What is the difference between DIN 3771 and AS568 O-ring sizes?
DIN 3771 is the German metric system — O-rings are specified by ID × CS in millimetres (e.g. 40 × 3.5 means 40mm inner diameter, 3.5mm cord section). AS568 is the American inch system — O-rings are specified by a dash number from a standard table (e.g. -214 corresponds to 1.359″ ID × 0.139″ CS). The two systems have different dimensional series and different groove designs. An AS568 O-ring does not directly substitute for a DIN 3771 O-ring even if the actual dimensions are close — the groove width and depth are designed for specific CS dimensions. Always specify which standard applies based on the equipment country of origin or drawing specification. For metric equipment (European, Indian, Japanese): DIN 3771. For American-designed equipment (ANSI flanges, US process plant): AS568. We supply both.
When should I use Viton instead of NBR?

Is PTFE O-ring a direct replacement for a rubber O-ring of the same dimensions?
Solid PTFE O-rings cannot be directly installed in standard rubber O-ring grooves — PTFE has no elasticity and does not self-energise under fluid pressure. Fitting solid PTFE in a standard groove results in immediate leakage.
